시카고시에서 경찰로 근무하는 남편,

나와바리를 유지하기 위해 공권력과의 전쟁을 선포한 알 카포네.

 

 

밤새 경찰과 갱들간에 전투가 이어지고,

고함지르는 소리, 뛰어다니는 발자욱 소리,

백 명에 이르는 경찰이 죽었다고 떠들어대는 소리도 밖에서 들려오고,

아내는 울음으로 밤을 지샌 날...

 

 

갑자기 찾아온 정적,

들리는 소리라곤 오직 벽에 걸린 시계의 똑딱거리는 소리...

 

 

그리고, 벌컥 열리는 현관문과 걸어들어오는 남편,

밤새 걱정한 아내의 뺨에 키스,

그리고 또 다시 떨어지는 아내의 눈물과 닦아주는 자상한 남편의 손길...

 

 

노래는 경쾌하지만 내용을 음미하면서 듣다보면 마지막 남편의 키스와 아내의 눈물 부분에서는 가슴이 조금 막막하면서 눈물도 쬐~~끔 비칠 때가 있다는...
